Volunteering at the CSPC

The Center for Sex Positive Culture exists because we have members who give their time and energy to make all of the events happen. Volunteering is the cornerstone for our community culture and the reason why this organization continues to thrive. We are fortunate to have a place like this available to us right here in our own backyard and it needs people like you to help support its success.

As a volunteer, you become a part of helping to ensure that a resource like this continues to be available for everyone.  This organization is truly unique--there is nothing else quite like it anywhere.  You meet people from all walks of life and all interests. You make friends and possibly even lovers. You learn new skills. You truly get to make a difference in the Center and in the Sex Positive community at large.

There are other immediate benefits we provide to our volunteers in appreciation for the time given to help.  We provide benefits like waiving the entry fee for events that you volunteer at and there are a few other perks depending on the type of volunteering and the amount of time spent helping.

As a member, we look forward to you attending the events.  While you're here why not spend a few hours during the event lending a hand from time to time.  When you join you become a member of this community and that makes all of us stewards of this organization.

Volunteering at Special Events

We organize several special events per year to increase support for all things sex positive and engage fundraising activities to help our organization grow and offer more to the community.

Seattle Erotic Art Festival Team

Our annual art festival keeps growing each year and needs the help of many volunteers.  There are a variety of ways to help - learn more here.

Paradise Team

Our Labor Day week camp out.  Yes, it's already in the planning.  It takes a lot of work to host a week of workshops, food, camping and play.  And it's also a ton of fun being in the outdoors and making an event like this successful.  And don't worry.  Just because you're on the event team doesn't mean you don't get to participate in the fun.  We design the volunteer schedule to ensure that everyone has plenty of opportunity to play.

Volunteering at the Center

There are several opportunities to volunteer to support our day to day operations.

Laundry Team

Not all clubs readily supply towels and sheets. Some require you bring them with you and others keep them locked up so you have to request them as needed. We want to keep offering you this service, so we very much need more people on this team.

Set-up Team

As we expand our programming, we need more people who are available to help with setting up for events. We sometimes have up to four events in a day (and even more if we're doing multiple workshops). As a volunteer on the set-up team, you'll be trained on how to set up the equipment and the space for each of the various events. Both day and evening set up crew positions are available.

Event Teams

Volunteers on the event teams ensure that the events themselves run smoothly.  Volunteer positions include cashiers, concierge (responsible for being available to answer questions or help ensure attendees have what they need for safety and comfort), librarians, event champions and event coordinators. If you are looking for a role that will help you meet new people and be more involved in the community, event volunteering is a great way to do that.  We provide training and mentoring for all of event positions.

Committees and Special Teams

We have many opportunities to become involved in the planning and programming of the events offered at the Center.  In addition to the parties, we also address education programming, fundraising, public relations and marketing under what we call The Big Committee Meeting.  Join us anytime!  We meet on the second Monday of the month at the Center.

"Build it Yourself" Volunteering

Do you see a need that isn't being addressed? Do you have a party you've been dying to put on but just aren't sure how to go about it? Just let us know your ideas and we'll work with you to see how we can make it happen.

Ready to Volunteer?

It's easy. Attend one of our Tuesday night volunteer orientation training sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m or our first Sunday afternoon session from noon to 2PM.
